Materials and Tools:
- Store-bought girl's dress
- Artificial flower stems
- Safety pins
- Scarf in a coordinating color
- Headband
- Hot glue and hot glue gun
- 1 yard each of two colors of tulle
- Satin ribbon
- Large artificial flower stem
- Glitter glue, rhinestones, glow-in-the-dark paint
Steps:
- Detach individual flowers from the artificial flower stems. Safety pin them to the hem, skirt, and neckline of the dress, positioning the pins on the outside for comfort and to prevent pricks.
- Hot glue additional flowers to the center of the scarf to create a waistband. Glue flowers to the center of the headband as well.
- For the wings: Cut tulle into 36" x 18" pieces (scale down for smaller sizes). Stack alternating colors, cinch the center, and tie with satin ribbon. Attach wings to the back of the dress.
- Wrap the large faux flower stem with leftover satin ribbon to make a fairy wand.
- Embellish costume elements with glitter glue, rhinestones, and/or glow-in-the-dark paint (optional).
