Draw the Mason jar shape on foam core board using a blue colored pencil. Once satisfied, outline with a blue permanent marker and erase stray pencil lines.
Print the MASON JAR template on blue cardstock paper and cut it out. Note: Letters are printed upside down, so the lines hide on the back side.
Use a craft knife and scissors to carefully cut out the Mason jar shape from the foam core.
Glue the MASON JAR letters onto the front of the foam core jar.

Spray the lid with silver paint and let dry. Apply three light coats of hammered silver for a realistic metal look.
Cut two slits in the lid top, spaced to fit the wearer's head width. Attach safety pins to ribbon ends, thread through slits from outside, over the top, and down the other side so ends are inside.
Pad the inside comfortably with towel scraps, washcloth, or batting; secure with tape or glue. Wear the hat and tie a bow under the chin.
