As a seasoned DIY crafter with years of creating standout Halloween costumes, I love this fun burrito design. Dress as a spicy burrito using a white fleece blanket for the tortilla. Cardstock, crepe paper, felt, yarn, and streamers craft the rice, cheese, veggies, and sauces for a realistic, crowd-pleasing look.

Cut cardstock into three 4- to 5-inch strips.

Insert the cardstock strips into the blanket fold and staple securely. This adds structure so the top of the tortilla rises naturally.

Wrap the blanket around your shoulders and mark the armhole positions. Use a circle template to cut out the armholes, transforming the blanket into a wearable cape.

Put on the cape and tie a belt around your waist. Bring the blanket ends together and secure with a safety pin. This helps you visualize fit and plan filling placement around the neckline.

Cut the remaining cardstock into about six long 4-inch-wide strips for the burrito fillings.

Use a 4-inch circle template to cut 20 to 25 circles from green felt fabric.

Fold each circle in half, then into quarters.

Staple the folded felt pieces to one cardstock strip to form a row of spinach leaves.

Make as many spinach strips as desired.

Fold green tissue paper lengthwise in half, then quarters, and eighths until it's about 4 inches wide. Cut along the length to create separate strips.

Fold two cardstock strips in half and place tissue paper strips between them. Staple along the center to sandwich the tissue securely.

Use scissors to cut 1/2-inch strips into the tissue paper for a leafy lettuce effect.

Cut an orange tablecloth into 2-inch strips. Staple red cupcake liners onto the strips for salsa and hot sauce details.

For the rice, create white yarn pom-poms.

Bundle the pom-poms with pipe cleaners to resemble shredded cheese or a floral bouquet texture.

Continue bundling pom-poms with pipe cleaners for rice and cheese elements.

Staple the salsa and hot sauce strip to the tortilla blanket. Safety-pin the rice and cheese bouquets in place. Tuck spinach leaves and lettuce strips throughout. Secure the belt at your waist and wrap aluminum foil from the waist down for the full burrito effect.
