This classic six-bottle A-frame wine rack is a breeze to assemble and requires minimal time. Craft one for your home, then gift another to a friend. Its slim profile fits perfectly in tight dining areas or atop the fridge.
We've kept our rack's birch plywood natural without finish or paint, adding vibrant flair with neon chain for a modern twist.
2 pieces of birch plywood (15" x 10.5")
1" hinges (2)
screwdriver
neon chain approx 10" to 12"
drill with a 3-1/5" drill bit (hole saw) and a 1/16" drill bit
150 grit sandpaper
Grab a ruler and pencil to precisely measure and mark the centers for each wine bottle cutout. On our rack, we positioned them 1-1/2" from the sides and 1" from the top and bottom edges, with each circle 1" apart.
Equip your drill with the 3-1/5" bit and carefully cut six holes in each plywood piece, for a total of 12 holes.
Sand any rough spots from drilling with 150-grit sandpaper for a safe, polished finish.
Position the hinges at the top, centered over the top holes. Secure one side to the first panel, align the second panel, and attach the other side. Repeat for the second hinge.
Assemble the rack into an A-frame shape, adjusting the bottom opening to about 6" wide.
Measure 1" in from each side and bottom corner, mark, and drill using the 1/16" bit—creating four holes at the base corners.
Thread the neon chain through one hole and secure with a double knot. Loop the other end through the opposite hole, knot it securely, ensuring a 6" span when taut. Trim excess and repeat on the other side.
