Sketch the pattern on the pumpkin using a pen, or lightly glue a printable template in place for precision.
For a smooth finish, pre-drill shallow holes along the marks with a small screwdriver, spacing them closely so the thumbtacks overlap slightly. Press in the thumbtacks securely. For a spider web design, start with a cross (Image 1), add diagonals (Image 2), then complete the pattern (Image 3).
