Begin by drawing a 4" x 4" square on the paper side of the iron-on adhesive. From one edge, sketch a bat wing shape measuring about 11" long by 7" wide.

Cut out the wing shape, then place it paper-side down on another iron-on adhesive sheet and trace it. Cut out the matching second wing.

Position the wing-shaped iron-on adhesive onto the fleece fabric, paper-side up, and iron it in place. Avoid direct contact between the hot iron and the fleece.

Once the adhesive melts, trim along the wing outline and peel off the paper. Shape wire to match the top edge of the wings and position it over the adhesive. Add short wire pieces for the wing 'bones'.

Layer another piece of fleece over the wings with wire sandwiched in between. Cover with an ironing cloth or thin cotton fabric and iron until fused. Trim the top fleece to match the wing shape.

Sew around the entire edge of the wings, then stitch along the wire edges for reinforcement.

Measure your dog's chest, mid-back, and waist. Cut fleece into a modified H-shape: arms based on chest and waist measurements plus 2" (2-1/2" wide). Center bar about 8" wide by your dog's back length. For a medium dog, straps are 23" end-to-end, center panel 8" x 9".

Sew the wings securely to the harness by stitching several lines across the square wing section.

Attach hook-and-loop tape to the harness straps: soft side on the underside of right-side straps, hook side on the top of left-side straps.

Fold the wings into position, fit the costume on your dog, and get set for a spooky Halloween adventure. Your pup will steal the show!
