A well-tied ribbon is a staple when it comes to gift wrapping, but instead of opting for a traditional satin option or a ready-made sticky bow, stock up on a variety of fabric trims at your local craft store.

Wrap the box in plain kraft paper. Cut the first piece of fabric to the length needed to wrap once around the gift box. It's best to start with darker or more neutral colors, and add more and more interesting colors and textures with each additional trim. Knot in the ends and cut off the excess trim.

Cloak Fabric Adjustment

Although each of these decorations makes a statement on its own, placing more than one style in a gift box is a great way to add visual interest and variety to those present. Play around with different combinations of embellishments until you get the looks you like.
