How to Craft Elegant Ribbon Flower Accents: Expert DIY Guide

Materials and Tools:

3/4 yard of 1/8" or 1/4" ribbon (for the center)
1-1/4 yards of 1" to 2" ribbon (for petals)
Needle
Thread to match the ribbon
Heavy gauge wire, cut into 12" to 18" lengths for stems
Floral tape
Silk or velvet leaves
Glue

Step-by-Step Directions:

1. For the flower center, cut the 1/8" or 1/4" ribbon into 6 pieces, each measuring 4" to 4-1/2" long.

2. Tie a knot midway on each piece. Fold the ribbon so the knot sits at the top.

3. Stitch all pieces together 1/2" from the folded end. Position any longer pieces in the center, with shorter ones arranged around them.

4. For the petals, cut the wider ribbon into 6 pieces, each 7" long. Fold each piece in half and sew a running stitch 1/2" from the ends, gathering them together. Pull the thread to gather, then secure and trim.

5. Arrange three petals around the center and sew them in place 1/2" from the ends.

6. To attach the flower to the stem, apply glue to one end of the wire and press it firmly against the stitched base of the flower. Allow it to dry completely.

7. Stretch the floral tape slightly and wrap it around 1/2" of the base of the sewn petals. Continue wrapping in a diagonal spiral down the stem, adding leaves as desired. Finish at the bottom of the wire and trim or tear the tape.
