How to Create Mud-Free Paths in Your Vegetable Garden: An Easy Mulch Method

As a seasoned gardener, I know the frustration of muddy shoes ruining your veggie harvest treks. Scraping off clumps with a knife is no fun. Here's my proven fix: hollow paths filled with organic mulch. Simple, effective, and garden-friendly.

When setting up 1.20m-wide beds, outline your paths and dig them 5-6cm deep. Push the soil aside onto the beds. Fill the trench with dry leaves, straw, or shredded branches—whatever you have. Your feet stay dry, while underground life thrives: beetles shelter and hunt slugs, earthworms digest the organics, improving soil aeration. Mulch also cuts watering, curbs weeds, and more. Refresh it seasonally as needed.
