1. Decide on the shape for your planter. This project uses a simple stair design for visual appeal.
2. Paint the blocks with two coats, covering both the inside and outside surfaces for durability and a polished look.
3. Assemble your planter. Position the lower-level blocks with openings facing front, and stack upper-level blocks with openings facing up.
4. Fill the top-opening blocks about 1/4 full with gravel for drainage, then add potting soil and arrange your plants. Top with a layer of gravel around the plants and water gently to settle everything without disturbing the soil.
5. Embellish the front openings with stones or decorative elements. Here, white-painted rocks complement the black-and-white theme.
