Build the Frame

As a veteran woodworker, I start by cutting 2x4s for the main members, 1x4s for the rails and sides, and 1x2s for the dividers. Lay everything out on the floor and construct two 2-foot square frames using the 1x4s. Secure 2x4 posts at the corners, nailing them firmly to create stable top risers.

Stack additional risers on top, spaced about 4x4 inches apart, to match your workbench height from the floor for easy access.

Add Dividers

Flip the frame over and check for levelness with a carpenter's square. Secure all posts to the risers using wood screws for rock-solid stability.

Mark divider positions, snap the first two into place (Image 1), and nail them secure. Add the top two dividers and fasten similarly (Image 2) for a professional finish.
