Transform upcycled glass jars into chilling Halloween terrariums filled with spiders, cotton ghosts, moss, and branches. This engaging DIY project is perfect for kids, who can personalize their creations with scary trinkets and toys. For younger children, swap the hot glue gun for safer craft glue.

Remove labels from the jars, clean and dry them thoroughly. Paint the jar lids black using craft paint. Gather your filling elements like moss, branches, spiders, and cotton webbing.

Using a hot glue gun, attach moss to the inside of the metal lid, keeping it away from the edges so the lid screws on easily. Rub black paint on parts of the moss for a haunting vibe.

Trim branches to fit inside each jar, paint them black, and let them dry completely.
Cut bat shapes, witch silhouettes, or other spooky figures from cardboard, paint them black, and let dry—or print templates online.
Glue one or two branches to the moss center, holding them steady for a minute if needed. Suspend spiders from branches with string or attach them to the base. Drape cotton webbing over twigs for added creepiness.

In another jar, shape a ghost from cotton webbing, glue it to the moss, and paint on eyes and mouth. Add a branch and spiders for extra fright.
Once designs are finished, carefully lower the jar onto the lid without shifting the elements inside.
