Steps:
- Remove the turntable, tuner, and speaker parts from the cabinet.
- Apply wood filler to fill in any imperfections in the cabinet left by the stripping process.
- Sand all filled areas flush with other surfaces.
- Cut and fit the shelves and back cover sections with 3/4-inch MDF. Add any necessary brackets for shelf installation.
- Prime and paint the inside of the cabinet.
- Prepare and paint all shelf sections before placing them inside the cabinet.
- Lightly sand all exterior cabinet surfaces.
- Stain and apply polyurethane to the exterior of the cabinet.
- Once the paint is dry, screw the shelves in place.
- Use caulking to fill any gaps in the seams between the shelves and the cabinet.
- Add an oak surround to the speaker faces made with a one-inch border. The speaker faces will become the doors on the side sections of the dresser.
- Stain new door frames.
- Hang the doors on the cabinet with the appropriate hinges and closing hardware.
- Add door handles.
