How to turn an old stereo into a dresser

Materials and tools:

measuring tape
square
marking tools
punch out
screwdriver
keys
bondo
sanding supplies
chop saw
table saw
keyhole saw
painting supplies
dremel tool
file

Steps:

1. Remove the turntable, tuner, and speaker parts from the cabinet.

2. Apply wood filler to fill in any imperfections in the cabinet left by the stripping process.

3. Sand all filled areas flush with other surfaces.

4. Cut and fit the shelves and back cover sections with 3/4-inch MDF. Add any necessary brackets for shelf installation.

5. Print and paint the inside of the cabinet.

6. Prepare and paint all shelf sections before placing them inside the cabinet.

7. Lightly sand all exterior cabinet surfaces.

8. Staining and polyurethane of the exterior of the cabinet..

9. Once the paint is dry, you can screw the shelves in place.

10. Use caulking to fill any gaps in the seams between the shelves and the cabinet.

11. Add an oak surround to the speaker faces made with a one-inch border. The speaker faces will become the doors on the side sections of the dresser.

12. Stain new door frames.

13. Hang the doors on the cabinet with the appropriate hinges and closing hardware.

14. Add door handles.
