We discovered this charming old dresser at a local thrift store. After applying a fresh coat of white paint, we added a striking Moroccan-inspired geometric design to the drawer fronts for a custom, high-end look.

Remove drawer pulls and hardware. Sand the surface with fine-grit sandpaper, following the wood grain, to strip the top finish layer. Focus on corners and crevices for optimal paint adhesion. Wipe clean with a damp cloth to eliminate dust.
Use a wide brush to apply the base coat across the entire dresser. Let it dry thoroughly, then add a second coat. We went with all-white, but consider using your pattern colors on the sides and top for variety.

Sketch your design on paper first. Apply painter's tape to outline: measure 1 inch from the top and bottom edges, placing horizontal strips for equal spacing. Locate the center with a tape measure, then form alternating X's and diamonds—three X's and two diamonds, ensuring uniform sizing.

With a small brush or sponge, carefully apply the first color—darker tones in centers, lighter on edges. Dab or rub rather than brush to avoid bleed under tape. Dry fully, then add a second coat if needed for even coverage.

Once dry, peel off tape slowly. Lightly sand to smooth excess paint, then use a fine artist's brush for any overlaps or bleeds. Allow to dry completely.

For extra detail, layer a secondary design inside the diamonds. Secure a stencil in the center, then pounce white paint with a flat sponge. Dry and remove stencil.
