As an experienced pet costume maker, start with the ladybug body: craft a simple harness from black fleece. Measure your dog's chest, mid-back, and waist. Cut the fleece into a modified H shape—arms matching chest and waist measurements plus 2 inches (about 2-1/2 inches wide). The center bar should be roughly 8 inches wide and match your dog's back length. For a medium dog, straps measure 23 inches end-to-end, with a center panel 8 inches wide by 9 inches long.

For authentic ladybug wings, draw a shape 3 inches wide at the base, 5-1/2 inches at the widest, and 12 inches long (scale as needed for your dog). Cut one wing, flip it upside down on red felt to trace and cut the matching pair precisely.

Cut ten 2-inch black felt circles for the classic ladybug spots.

Sew or glue the dots securely in place on each wing for a durable finish.

Center the wings flat on the harness chest strap. Stitch along the top and straight side of each wing for a strong, comfortable attachment.

Apply hook-and-loop tape to the straps: soft side on the underside of right straps, hook side on the top of left straps for easy, secure fastening.

Measure around your dog's head for the antennae band. Cut elastic to fit, sew ends with a half-inch overlap. Bend pipe cleaners into a sharp V shape.

Cut small holes in the elastic center, thread pipe cleaner ends through, and secure with hot glue for stability. Glue pom-poms to the tips—antennae ready!

Your four-legged friend is now the cutest ladybug around—perfect for Halloween parades and photos!
