After installing a two-tone bamboo floor, repurpose those leftover pieces into this striking modern chandelier. As seasoned DIY experts, we've crafted countless fixtures like this—watch the video to follow along easily.
Cut a piece of plywood for the base.
Leave the plywood larger than your finished base for easier handling.
Nail a first row of dark bamboo along one edge. Add two more dark rows, butting them together and staggering joints just like bamboo flooring installation.
Trim any excess plywood with a saw.
Nail light bamboo on the sides.
At the bottom, mark and drill holes in a random pattern for hanging light bulbs. Run electrical wires through holes in a box at the back.
Connect the wires into a single circuit using wire nuts. Adjust lengths as needed, leaving slack to fine-tune bulb heights once installed.
Locate a ceiling stud and install two heavy-duty hooks. Secure the fixture using heavy picture wire looped through the hooks.
Screw in Edison-style bulbs for that perfect modern-vintage glow.
