As a seasoned crafter with years of holiday DIY experience, I've perfected this rustic burlap Christmas stocking that blends texture and charm. Craft yours using burlap, muslin, and colorful tassels—stick to red and green for tradition or mix hues to complement your decor.

Gently pull 6 to 8 inches of embroidery floss from the skein and cut it off. Cut the piece in half and tie around each end of the skein. Secure with a knot, wrap it a few more times for a neat tie, and finish with another knot. Ensure both ends are well-wrapped, trim if necessary, then cut the skein in the center to create two tassels.

Download, resize, and print our handy stocking template. Iron the burlap and muslin fabric flat. Pin two equal pieces of each fabric together for stability. Pin the burlap layers to the template and cut out the stocking shape. (Cut one layer at a time if preferred.) Repeat with the muslin.

For the burlap, align the two pieces right sides together and sew around the edges with a 1/2-inch seam allowance, leaving the top open. For the muslin, fold the top edge down to the outside and press with an iron. Align the pieces folded edges out, sew with a 1-inch seam allowance, and trim to 1/4 inch. Insert the muslin lining into the burlap stocking, easing it flat by hand. Adjust seams if needed for a perfect fit.

Gently pull threads from the burlap edges to create fringes, then fluff with your fingers for texture. Hand-sew tassels in place using a needle and thread. Finish with a festive ribbon loop sewn on for hanging.
