Start by cutting your fabric into 13" x 13" squares. Press them flat and remove any loose threads. On the right and left sides of the first square, fold over a ¼" hem toward the wrong side of the fabric and press. Fold the edges again another ¼" and press firmly.

At each corner, fold the fabric to form a small triangle, creating a clean mitered edge. Press thoroughly to set the folds.

Repeat the process on the top and bottom edges: fold over ¼" toward the wrong side and press.

Fold another ¼" inward on all sides and press. This technique ensures neat, professional corners. Secure the hems with pins around the entire square.

Using your sewing machine, begin at one corner and stitch a straight seam along the folded edges. Start with a few backstitches to secure the thread.

Sew along the first side. At the corner, lower the needle into the fabric, raise the presser foot, and pivot the fabric 90 degrees. Lower the presser foot and continue sewing. Repeat for all corners. Finish with backstitches to lock the thread securely.

Trim any loose threads and excess fabric. Give the napkin a final press for a crisp, polished look.
