Christmas stockings are a festive tradition made simple with fleece. As a seasoned crafter with years of holiday DIY experience, I've perfected this quick project using just fleece fabric and embroidery floss. You'll have a handmade heirloom ready in no time.

Print the pattern pieces, pin them to the fleece, and cut out the two stocking pieces.

Place the two fleece stocking pieces right sides together and sew around the outer edges, leaving the top open.

For a basic stocking, skip the embroidery below. But adding a blanket stitch with embroidery floss elevates the look beautifully and takes just 30 minutes.

Jess Abbott
Thread a needle with embroidery floss and knot the end. Bring it up along the seam edge. Insert the needle 1/2-inch to the right, pull through leaving a loop. Pass the needle through that loop from the back and pull gently. Repeat from the back, inserting 1/2-inch further.

Pull through loosely, leaving slack at the top. From the front, slide the needle through the loop and pull taut. Insert from the back 1/2-inch away, repeat.

Repeat until you've stitched the entire stocking, including around the top opening.

Jess Abbott
Fold down the top edge 1-2 inches. Cut the hanging loop from the pattern and fleece if not already done.

Jess Abbott
Fold the loop in half, matching short ends.

Position the loop's short ends inside the back seam near the top. Sew securely in place.
With the loop attached, your fleece Christmas stocking is complete and ready to hang by the chimney. Ideal for holiday decor or filling with personalized gifts—loved ones will cherish the handmade charm.
