With years of hands-on woodworking projects under our belt, we recommend using a circular saw to carefully cut the crib legs down to about 2 inches tall for a low-profile base.

Install a pull stud into the crib post and the section of the panel that will serve as the door. Insert the bolt part into the bottom rail of the panel, then repeat on the opposite side for secure latching.

Remove the screws holding the door panel to the posts—this allows easy opening. In our build, we needed an Allen key to loosen ours effectively.

With the bolts in place, latch the draw bolts to firmly secure the panel to the posts when closed, ensuring stability for your pet.

Measure the center point on the bottom rail of the door panel. Position the drawer pull at that center, mark for pre-drilling, and drill the holes (pro tip: hold the panel elevated to avoid the mattress platform). Secure the handle with screws.

Cut a 1/2-inch birch plywood sheet to match the exact dimensions of the crib top. Stain or paint as desired, then let it dry fully. Position the plywood on top at all four corners, pre-drill, and fasten with screws for a solid lid.

Make your new crate cozy by adding a comfortable mattress and your dog's favorite toys—ready for happy, secure naps!
