Measure the center of the birdhouse roof with a tape measure and mark it with a pencil. Attach a hole saw to your drill and carefully cut a hole in the roof.

Smooth the wood using a sanding block and fine-grit sandpaper. Wipe away dust with a damp cloth for a clean finish.

Coat the entire birdhouse surface with primer using a spray can or brush for even coverage and better paint adhesion.

Once the primer is fully dry, paint the birdhouse in your chosen color.
For a playful, whimsical look, paint the roof and base in varying shades of the same hue—a technique I've used in countless rustic projects.

Feed the cord from the pendant kit through the birdhouse interior and out the roof hole. Screw in an Edison-style bulb to the socket, secure everything, and plug into an outlet for instant ambiance.
