How to make a pendant light from a wooden birdhouse

Step 1

Add hole

Use a tape measure to determine the center point of the birdhouse roof, then mark it with a pencil. Add a hole saw attachment to a drill to make a hole in the roof top.

Step 2

Sand wood surface

Smooth the surface of the wood with a sanding block and fine grit sandpaper. Then clean the surface with a damp cloth.

Step 3

Apply Primer

Cover the entire surface of the aviary with primer. Use a spray primer or brush.

Stage 4

Add some color

Once the primer has dried, apply color to the birdhouse.

Pro Tip

For a whimsical touch, consider painting the roof and base of the house in different shades of the same color.

Insert pendant kit and bulb

Thread the cord from the hanging kit through the inside of the birdhouse and through the hole in the ceiling. Screw the filament bulb into the pendant kit socket. Once secure, plug the pendant kit into the outlet.
