Painted onesie fabric is a fun and inexpensive craft to make for baby that anyone can do!
Cut a piece of freezer paper roughly the same size as the onesie. Lay the glossy side down on the freezer paper and draw or trace your desired image onto the paper.
Lay the drawing out on a cutting mat, and very carefully cut around the image with a utility knife.
Once the design has been cut out, iron the freezer paper shiny side down directly onto the envelope. Press any sharp edges or any small pieces gently so they stay in place. Let cool.
Slide a piece of aluminum foil in the center of the unit under the entire freezer paper template. This will prevent paint from getting on the back of the jumpsuit. Use a small amount of fabric paint on a sponge brush to begin applying the paint carefully.
Don't glue the paint, just rub it in normal normal strokes and let it dry. If you're painting in a darker color like mine and the fabric is showing through the paint, repeat this step a few times allowing the paint to dry each time.
When the paint is dry, carefully remove the freezer paper revealing the design. To add alternate colors or embellishments, simply repeat the freezer paper process. For smaller embellishments, like the swan's bow tie, use a fine-tipped brush to do it freehand.
This is the perfect way to add a personalized touch without having to do any sewing.
