How to Paint Faux Leather Walls

Introduction

Paint on the base coat

Mask off the edges of the wall with painter's tape. Apply a base coat of cream on the wall and let dry..

Step 1

Make the texture paint tool

Create a texture painting tool out of cut suede fabric. Cut the suede into several strips, each about 2" by 4". Gather the strips in your hand and wrap a rubber band around one end of the bunch to make a multi-layered paint texturing tool.

Add the glaze

Combine bronzing paint and glazing medium in a paint tray to create the desired top coat glaze color (image 1). Using a pouncing technique, use a foam brush to apply the glaze along the edges of the first section of wall that the glazing will be on (image 2). Use a paint roller to apply the glaze to the wall section (image 3).

Erase some of the polish

Dip the suede paint tool in water and squeeze out the excess. Pat it on the wall to remove some of the enamel (image 1).

When the glaze begins to dry, press a damp cloth to the wall surface to soften the look (image 2).

Continue across the wall in this way, applying polish and texturing the surface with the chamois tool and then a cloth. Work in small sections:the enamel dries quickly..
