As a seasoned DIY crafter, I recommend flat-weave rugs with nubby textures and neutral colors to effectively hide pet messes and hair. You'll need three identical rugs for the top, bottom, and side panels of your custom slipcover.

Place the pet bed on a flat surface and measure its length and width with a tape measure. Mark these dimensions on two rugs using a marker or chalk, then cut them precisely with dressmaker's scissors to form the top and bottom panels.

With the pet bed on a level surface, measure its height. Mark the third rug accordingly with marker or chalk. Cut it into four side panels using dressmaker's scissors: two matching the bed's length plus height seam allowance, and two matching the width plus height.

Use sewing pins to temporarily attach each of the four side panels to the top panel.

Thread a round-end tapestry needle with mercerized cotton thread, then securely sew the four side panels to the top panel for a snug fit.

Pin three of the four side panels to the bottom panel, leaving one side open for insertion. Thread the tapestry needle with mercerized cotton and sew the bottom panel to those three sides, ensuring sturdy seams.

Remove all pins and turn the cover right-side out through the open side. Slide the pet bed inside, position it perfectly, then close the opening with the tapestry needle and mercerized cotton for a seamless finish.
