
Using an awl or scissors, cut or punch out as many paper shapes as you need—triangles, circles, or pennants all work wonderfully for a custom look.

Sew through the center of each paper shape one by one in a straight line, forming a long chain. Adjust the slack between shapes for your preferred spacing and drape.
