Transform your old t-shirts into stylish throw pillows with this simple sewing project. Ideal for beginners, it works best with stretchy knit t-shirt fabric. As a crafting enthusiast with years of upcycling experience, I've perfected this envelope-style method for quick, professional results.

Measure your pillow and cut two overlapping back pieces in an envelope style. Use the shirt's pre-existing hems as the straight edges. Cut them to match the pillow's width and three-fourths its length.

From the shirt's graphic area, cut a piece exactly matching your pillow's dimensions (length x width). You now have three pieces: the front graphic and two back hems.

Place the front graphic face up. Layer one back piece on top, right sides together, aligning all three raw edges.

Position the second back piece right side down on the opposite side, so hems overlap in the center. Pin all four edges and sew with a zigzag stitch to handle the fabric's stretch.

Turn the pillowcase right side out through the envelope opening.

Stuff your pillow form through the back envelope opening.

Tuck both back pieces over the form and smooth everything out. Your pillow is now fully encased.

Enjoy your custom pillow on the sofa, kid's bed, or anywhere cozy. This upcycled treasure adds personal charm to any space.
