Cut the full sheet of luan plywood to slightly larger than your bed's dimensions. This allows room for adjustments and trimming later.
Miter-cut the trimmed pieces, paint them, and let them dry. Apply a second coat if needed for a smooth finish.
From the half sheet of plywood, cut twelve 10" x 10" squares.

Cut batting into twelve 11" x 11" squares. Wrap each wooden square with batting, fold the edges around the back, and secure with hot glue.

Cut old t-shirts slightly larger than the batting squares. Wrap each around a prepared square and hot-glue the edges to the back.

Arrange the t-shirt-covered squares on the large luan panel. Verify sizing and leave edge margins for trimming.
Attach the molding to the luan panel with wood glue and small nails. Weigh it down and let cure for 24 hours if needed.

Adhere one side of hook-and-loop tape (Velcro) to the back of each t-shirt square. Attach the mating side to the luan panel, then press the squares firmly into place.

Stretch and attach an additional t-shirt below the squares to fully cover the bottom of the luan panel.
Secure the headboard by locating wall studs and positioning the panel so the squares align over the screws or anchors.
