As an experienced crafter, I've perfected this technique for a professional-looking belt that complements any dress or jeans. Add beads or brass hardware (like plumbing couplers) for a custom touch.

Cut six 1" x 36" strips from a yard of fabric.

Join two strips with a slit-and-loop knot: Cut a lengthwise slit about 1/2" from the end of the first strip, just wide enough for the fabric to pass through. Pass the end of the next strip through it.

Cut a similar 1/2" slit near the end of the second strip. Thread the uncut end of the second strip through the first strip's slit, then through its own slit.

Pull the strips snugly to tighten the knot. This creates a seamless join without bulky traditional knots.

Repeat twice more to connect all six strips into three long ones.

Secure the knotted ends to a firm surface and start a classic three-strand braid. Keep strands untangled as you work.

Braid until about five inches of fabric remain. Wrap around your waist to check length; add more strips if needed by tying them on.

Before finishing, slide two brass tube couplers onto the ends.

Knot each end firmly to hold the couplers in place.

Trim any loose threads for a clean finish.

Craft additional belts in various colors and share with friends.
